I was living in Lionshead, Vail, Colorado at the time. My co-worker Chasten picked me up early and we began our hike around 5:53am, most likely even earlier.

After a couple hours of walking, we finally see Holy Cross from a distance. However, a gruesome journey awaits us.

The path becomes steep and rockier, at first along the giant snow field.

My friend decided to remain down, where he didn’t want to over exhort himself as this hike was just pain and long.

What I would call, even to this present day, the most challenging hike of all time personally… I summited Mount of the Holy Cross at 14,005 feet.

Coming down was just as dreadful as ascending. We didn’t make it to Chaston’s car till the evening.
